The Lancaster Britain's most famous heavy bomber was first flown on 9 January 1941; it flew its first bombing mission into Germany in 1942. Used for air raids for many years it was equipped with special dambuster bombs for its two attacks in 1943 on German water reservoir dams.The depicted aircraft belonged to the No. 150 Squadron based at Hemsell Lincolnshire.
